Many skate and skating boots are thermoplastic nowadays. This is especially the case with speed skates and hockey skates, but we also have figure skates that are heat moldable. Using heat, we can shape thermoplastic boots to fit your foot perfectly. That way, you’ll have ice skates or inline skates that fit like a glove. To have your boots molded, it’s best to make an appointment so we can take the time and give you our full attention.
Skate boots need to fit very snugly. With well-fitting boots, you’ll have more stability and power when skating. You’ll skate faster and longer, with fewer complaints. If your skate boots are too loose, your feet will slide, causing irritation and blisters. Boots that are too small, on the other hand, cause cramps and pressure points. In the worst case, poorly fitting skate boots can even lead to injuries.
With thermoplastic skate boots, the shell can be molded to your foot using heat. We do this as follows:
Thermoplastic skate boots can be reshaped several times, but not indefinitely. Have your thermoplastic boots already been molded once and they still don’t fit well? We’ll gladly look for a solution with you. We also help with boots not purchased from us.
Be careful when buying second-hand boots—this often goes wrong. Boots that have been molded wide are difficult to reshape for narrow feet. And boots that are too big or too small cannot be corrected with thermoplastic molding.
For skate boots purchased from us, fitting is free of charge. Even reheating at a later time is included. That’s what we call lifetime service.
For molding and heating boots purchased elsewhere, we charge €25.00. Please note: we cannot provide a guarantee on this service.
Skates should fit snugly around the foot, without pinching. A good fit means that your heel stays firmly in place and your toes lightly touch the front without pressing against the nose of the skate. Around the instep and ankle, the boot should also fit closely to give you maximum control on the ice.
You’ll know your skates fit correctly if your foot doesn’t move inside the boot, and you don’t feel any pressure points or pinching. When trying on skates, it’s important to stand upright for a moment to check whether you feel stable. Still unsure? Visit our store—we’ll measure your feet and help you choose the right model and size.
